What are academic vocabulary cards?
Academic vocabulary cards are a new addition to K-1 lessons that give students and teachers common language to talk about writing. Each set of cards is tied directly to the vocabulary used in that specific lesson, helping extend the conversation around what students are learning.

Vocabulary cards FAQs
Q: How should I use vocabulary cards?
Use the cards in the way that works best for your classroom! Many teachers use them as a pre-teach activity to introduce key terms before the lesson. Others use them as a review afterward to reinforce vocabulary students just learned.
Q: Do I need to use vocabulary cards a certain way, or in a certain order?
No — they're designed to be flexible. Use them before, during, or after the lesson, depending on what your students need.
Q: Are these cards available anywhere besides inside the lesson?
Currently, vocabulary cards are only available embedded within the lesson. We're exploring additional tools to bring this vocabulary into more formats, so keep an eye out for updates.
