Grades K-1
K-1 measurement and assessment is still evolving. Because progress checks need to look different depending on where a young writer is developmentally, we're prototyping approaches and talking with K-1 teachers directly — through interviews and surveys — to make sure what we build truly supports them.
Grades 2-5
Genre-specific rubrics are available in pre- and post-assessment lessons in each Genre unit. Two rubrics are available:
- A self-assessment checklist for students to help them reflect on their own writing
- A standards-based rubric with room for teacher feedback
Downloading a rubric:
- From a Genre unit page, select either a pre or post-assessment lesson.
- Scroll down to the What you'll need... section and click the name of the resource you would like to download.
- When the document opens in a new tab, click Download and save your preferred version of the document.
